Amanda Lyons is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Wofford College (Spartanburg, SC) and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse College (Spartanburg, SC) where she was inducted into Delta Kappa, the International Marriage and Family Honor Society.
She has experience working with children, adolescents, and families in outpatient, shelter, and residential settings. She works with children 3 and older, adolescents, and parents in individual and family sessions. She will work with you to determine the most appropriate setting for your family.
Amanda approaches therapy from a systemic perspective which means she views the client within the context of their relationships (system). She uses evidence-based practices and techniques such as play therapy, CBT, structural family therapy, experiential, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, person-centered, and the expressive arts. She specializes in behavioral issues, family conflict, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, adoption and blended families, suicidal ideation and self-harm, PTSD, anger management, and divorce.
When she’s not at work, Amanda likes to spend time with her family, read, be outside, listen to live music, and play with her dog, GusGus.
